Day 2 - Favorite Movie...and, go!

Simply put, this is too hard. I have so many favorite movies. Favorite comedies, favorite stupid movies, favorite dramas...how does one ever actually really REALLY have a favorite anything? There are a few that I will stop and watch, no matter what, if I find them on:
1. Fried Green Tomatoes. L-O-V-E.
2. Love, Actually
3. Old School
4. Wedding Crashers
5. Juno - one of the best!
6. Boondock Saints
7. The Princess Bride
8. Reality Bites
9. Steel Magnolias
10. Elf
11. Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion (a few brain cells die each time I watch this)

Clearly, I only watch movies to be entertained. I do not want to have to think or figure anything out (hello, Vanilla Sky...). Movies are my entertainment, my break from everyday. My husband laughs because literally every preview we see on tv is quickly followed by the words, "ooh, I wanna see that" out of my mouth. I just saw The Switch last weekend and although it bombed, I absolutely loved it!

Day One: Favorite Song

How nice that the very first topic I'm to blog about today would be one of the hardest (with the exception of day 2) to narrow down.

So I'm going to have a list (in no particular order, with the exception of number 1):

10: Anything from John Mayer spanning from his early career (circa 2001) with Room for Squares and then following with Heavier Things. I followed his tours for years - I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen him. Let me remind you - this was all before he turned in to the ultimate douchebag he is today. Such a waste. The last time I ever saw him was in Indianapolis in 2006, I believe, with my boyfriend (now husband) and he was mediocre at best. Fav songs include 3x5, City Love, Comfortable, Neon (any live version), Something's Missing and Come Back to Bed.

9. Britney Spears. Flame away! She's my guilty pleasure. I saw her Circus tour in Chicago last year, and it was an amazing show. Notice I said "show" since it's widey known she does lip sync. But I can't help it - it started with Baby, One More Time and the love continues to this day.

8. Rolling Stones. They. Are. EPIC. I've had the fortunate circumstance to see them live in concert not once, but twice. The first time, during their 40 Licks tour, in Detroit and the second was the first major concert to be played at Churchill Downs here in Louisville. It was awesome. I was with the hubs (before he was the hubs) and it poured down rain the entire time but still rocked. Fav songs include Beast of Burden and Miss You, both of which they did NOT sing either time I saw them live.

7. Eminem. I love him. LOVE. HIM. So happy he is back. He's another I've had the opportunity to see live which is amazing because he very rarely tours. He hasn't put out a song that I just don't flat out love. Some favs include: Shake That, Without Me and The Way I Am.

6. Jack Johnson. Again, anything this man puts out is nothing short of amazing, in my book. It immediately transports me to a happy place, and a state of uber relaxation. I love Sexi Plexi, Bubble Toes, Better Together and Sitting, Waiting, Wishing.

5. Love Shack by the B-52s...because it's my mom's favorite song and ultimately reminds me of her every time I hear it. And she loves, loves, loves to dance to it. I even put a "mother/daugter" dance in to my wedding reception so all the women in my family could come out on the dance floor for this:

4. Ray Charles. He reminds me of my Dad and when I was younger. Dad drove me to grade school every morning, and we would jam out to Ray Charles. I knew the words to most of his songs by the time I was 10. My all time favorite (and the ring tone assigned to me when I call my Dad on his cell now) is What'd I Say.

3. Taylor Swift. She brings out the 16 year old girl in me. I adore her and I think she's such a positive role model (unlike my previously listed number nine) for girls in a world of trash. Fav Taylor songs include Fifteen, You Belong With Me, Hey Stephen and Love Story.

2. That's Not My Name by The Ting Tings. Somehow, someway - this became "our" song. And by our, I mean my darling husband and me. We go crazy when it comes on, and now we are known for it. Here is some photographic evidence:
(at our rehearsal dinner at Duffy's Love Shack)

(at our wedding reception at the Ali Center)

1. This is a toss up. It's tied at 311's Love Song (cover of the original song by The Cure) because that's our REAL song - the song we dance to at our reception, the song that for the 4 1/2 years we've been together we still call one another when we hear it on the radio, the song that gives me goosebumps. We even saw 311 live in concert when we were dating and they sang this song. It's lovely. The only song that could tie with this song would be Somewhere Over the Rainbow, preferably the Hawaiian version by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, as that's the version that played as I walked down the aisle. It's also the song that we had our actual first dance to as husband and wife, in St. Thomas, on our wedding night at Havana Blue as our dear friend Emily sang so beautifully for us, unexpectedly. It was, needless to say, very emotionally charged:

And here we are dancing to Love Song at our reception in Louisville:

Long post! But, as you can see, music is a pretty important part of my life. I could go on and on about it, but I won't. I promise all entries won't be as long as this one!

30 Days...

I am officially the worst blogger. Ever. Well...not really ever, I know there are people out there that forget about their blogs altogether or go much longer between updates than I do, so I'm not terrible. I digress - I'm starting a 30 day blogging challenge, sparked by Absolutely Ridiculous to get back in the blogger mode. Closet organization!

If any of you know me personally (most of you probably don't), you would know that I'm the least organized person. Well, in the general public's opinion, maybe. But not mine - I see it as "organized chaos." I was an art major. I'm a creative person, a free spirit. I'm just flat out NOT GOOD at keeping things neat, straight, organized, etc. although it often makes me feel better when things are that way. Make sense? So, I've spent a reasonable amount of time in my closet (and to those of you snickering to yourselves remembering the time I passed out IN my closet after one too many painkillers - the drink, not the pills) trying to make sense of things. So, here goes:

First things first - shoes. Why? Because, let's be honest, in my world, they're the most important part of one's outfit. So here are many of my shoes, as many as I can cram in my closet, and as organized as I can get them.

Some of the "best" in their boxes: Prada, Chanel, Stuart Weitzman, Hollywould, Brian Atwood, etc.

I keep all of my flip flops, organized by color, in a basket on the shelf.

Winter boots, up on the top shelf, until they are needed again.

Tops, organized by color.

Denim!!

Dresses, pants, shorts, skirts...

Gym gear - as a personal trainer and a gym rat, it's important to have these easily accessible. Here they are on my lowest shelf, organized by long yoga pants, cropped pants, sports bras and shorts. Notice how small the stacks are? I really need to do laundry.

So that's that. Pretty much. I'm trying! And I enjoy the more "organized" closet - I have closet envy of those that use all the same color hangers and all their clothing hangs nicely in a row, not a sleeve out of place, but this is as close as I get to that. For now.

Sidewalk Sale!

Sigh. I love them. Especially because my favorite local boutiques do not have them frequently and although I love fashion and clothing, I'm not made of money! I went to Clodhopper's a few weeks ago and was overwhelmed with choices. Usually all the smaller sizes are gone and I don't have much to choose from...that's why getting there early the day it starts pays off!

I purchased a Lauren Moffat dress that is just to die for. I love the open back, the detail ruffling on the belt, and just the overall feminine feel of the dress. I paired it with some yellow Jessica Simpson slingbacks to give it a little color contrast.

Here is a photo of me in the dress:

and these are the shoes I wore with it (so mad I don't have a full length picture! or a picture of the back!):

I also lucked out and got a gorgeous green silk Robert Rodriguez top - I don't have any photos wearing it yet, but this is it:

I love this. And the chain comes off, so once all the hardware/chain type fashions go out, I still have a beautiful green silk top.

And finally, new shoes. I found these originally last year (gasp! last season shoes??) and I loved them, but never got around to purchasing and shortly thereafter forgot about them entirely as I have the attention span of a fly. But, while shopping around DSW this weekend, they called to me from the sale room. You know what they said? "Samantha, you have to buy us! We used to be $150, but then we were marked down to $89.95. And now? We're 70% off of that." So, yeah. I snagged these bad boys for under $27.

long time, NO BLOG

So sorry - real life got in the way.

On June 13, I lost my 5 year old English bulldog, Gus, unexpectedly. Probably one of the harder days of my life up to this point. To compound the loss, I was in Las Vegas. Not the phone call one looks forward to receiving at 6:15 a.m. while on vacation.

Sweetest boy ever. My time with him was way too short. We rescued him at just 2 years of age and he passed at 5 1/2...I had the honor of calling him mine for three short years. I'm a huge animal lover, so much so that I can't even go in to the pet store to purchase dog food because I'll come home with every animal in there. This was my first pet loss as an adult, and I have to tell you, it was hard. I don't have children yet - these are my babies. I miss him so much.

However, I took this as a chance to bring another bullie in to my life. This time, a baby - I brought Piglet (AKA Piggy, Miss P, Piggy Poo and a myriad of other names) home at just eight weeks. She's now almost 12 weeks and so precious. She certainly doesn't replace the Gus Man, but I have a new place in my heart for her. And she's entertaining my other pup, Phoebe, to say the least.

Meet Piglet:

I'll be posting more this week - as you know my shopping addiction hasn't slowed. And I've certainly had my fair share of some ridiculous bargains as of late. TTFN.

Kristen Stewart

I'm sure most of you have heard of Kristen Stewart by now, considering you can't turn on the tv without seeineg a preview for Twilight: Eclipse. The Twilight series - both book and movie - has taken the world by storm and in doing so, put the spotlight on a little known actress Kristen Stewart. Sure, she's awkward in interviews and hates the attention. But I will say from what I've seen for the current press junket, she's gotten much more comfortable in her skin. She's a great actress, a beautiful woman and seems completely humbled by all of this. She had the haircut heard round the world last year when filming the Joan Jett movie, The Runaways, but it's finally grown out and she recently died it red for her latest film, On The Road. I'm loving all of her fashion choices as of late, she's looking FAB. She has the perfect mix of rocker/bad ass edge with femininity. Her personality comes through in every choice...I feel at just 20 years old, Kristen has already found herself. Here are a few favs:
